3MM: Overthinking, Virgins & Reinvention

3 MINUTE MONDAY

Hi friend,

It's nearly the end of the year, you should do a review process.

My End Of Year Review framework has been downloaded by 100,000 people and is totally free. Enjoy x

This time of year can be tough.

Downtime from busyness, overwhelm from family and melancholy from reflection can create the perfect storm for overthinking.

So here’s 20 Sentences to Stop Overthinking by Nir Eyal.

Use these one-liners as mantras when your brain won't switch off.

  1. I don't need certainty to act.
  2. If it's reversible, I decide fast.
  3. I choose one next step, not ten.
  4. I don't solve feelings; I surf them.
  5. My thoughts are not instructions.
  6. Action creates clarity, not thought.
  7. I write it down so my brain can rest.
  8. I'm allowed to move with partial info.
  9. I give myself a deadline, then choose.
  10. I ask, "What's the next visible action?"
  11. I schedule thinking so that I don't spiral.
  12. I trade rumination for one small experiment.
  13. I let future-me correct, not present-me freeze.
  14. I'm aiming for progress, not the perfect plan.
  15. I ask, "What would this look like if it were easy?"
  16. I accept that some questions stay open while I move.
  17. I notice loops and ask, Is this helping or just hindering?"
  18. I'm the kind of person who stops rehearsing and starts doing.
  19. If it won't matter in 5 years, it doesn't get this much brainspace.
  20. I'd rather be roughly right in motion than stuck "perfecting" ideas.

MODERN WISDOM

I do a podcast where I pretend to have a British accent.

This week’s upcoming episodes:

Monday.
Connor Beaton - why do high-powered people so often self-destruct? This is the bible for the sensitive hard-charger who is trying to balance feeling emotions with making progress. One of my favourites this year. Listen now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Thursday.
4M Q&A - just me and the mic. What’s going on with my hair, why did I do pushups on stage, when will the studio be finished, plans for Modern Wisdom in 2026 and more.

Saturday.
Debra Lieberman - why don’t you have sex with your sister? Really.

THINGS I'VE LEARNED

1.
New psychology research shows a genetic link between higher intelligence and never having sex.

New study: smarter, more educated people are slightly more likely to have never had sex.

Researchers analysed data from 400,000 UK adults and 13,500 Australians.

About 1% of both men and women reported never having had sex.

Genetic analysis showed that genes explained roughly 15% of the variation in lifetime sexlessness — not from any single gene, but from thousands with tiny effects.

The genetic pattern for sexlessness overlapped with; higher intelligence, education, income and socioeconomic status, as well as introversion, autism traits and anorexia.

It was negatively correlated with depression, anxiety, ADHD and substance-use disorders.

Men who had lower grip strength and arm muscle mass were less likely to have had sex, and sexlessness was more common in regions with fewer women or greater income inequality.

Overall, the researchers found that never-having-sex correlated with a “bright, bookish but socially isolated” profile—smarter and healthier in some ways, but lonelier and less physically strong. — PsyPost

2.
A thought to take into 2026.

“It's never too late to completely reinvent yourself, people have short memories and more importantly they just don't care.” — DylanO

3.
A question to ask yourself about your relationship.

If you couldn’t have sex with your partner for the next year, would you still be happy with them?

Many red flags are hidden beneath good sex.

LIFE HACK

Get your bloodwork done.

If health is a goal for 2026 - you need to know what’s happening inside of your body.

My favourite bloodwork company does a single test that allows you to check everything including your cortisol levels, heart health, hormone levels like testosterone, screens for 50 types of cancer and even detects AMH levels in women which indicate ovarian reserves.

It’s the most comprehensive, simple and quick way to get bloodwork done.

This is the exact test I get every 6 months.

3 MINUTE MONDAY Hi friend, Tour the last week has been a madness. I’m in Perth for 18 hours and I’m gutted we have to leave. Thank you so much to everyone who’s come out to Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide - Brisbane, NZ & Bali next! I am certain that most capable people don’t believe in themselves enough. A lack of confidence killed more dreams than a lack of competence ever did. Self-doubt often seems to be bundled into a package deal alongside potential. Why? Is it that capable people are...

3 MINUTE MONDAY Hi friend, I'm in Australia!! Live tour starts this Thursday 💜 Come see me. “I struggle to believe I’m worthy of moments of joy and peace without first putting myself through a brutal schedule, monitoring my productivity levels down to the minute. Perhaps some people apply this “earn your cookie” mindset in ways that lead to healthy achievements. Not me. Mine is a mutation whereby joy and self-compassion are regularly outlawed by an internal tyrant who decides when I’ve been...
